A single-arm, phase 2 study of short-course palliative radiotherapy (RT) for pancreatic cancer-related pain was presented by C Paola Tello Valverde (Amsterdam UMC, Amsterdam, Netherlands). Of 29 patients receiving palliative RT (24 Gy in three fractions, once a week), 24 (80·0%) had pain relief (primary endpoint; mean pain severity reduction using the Brief Pain Inventory from 5·9 to 2·9; p=0·017) during the first 11 weeks, and for 21 (70·0%) of those patients, the pain relief lasted until death or last follow-up.
