On February 20, the Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN; Allentown, PA, USA) disclosed in a statement that it was the target of a cybersecurity attack by BlackCat, a gang known to be associated with Russia. The hackers released three clinical images of people with cancer receiving radiation oncology treatment at the LVHN Delta Medix facility and seven documents containing patient information on the dark web. BlackCat asked for a ransom payment, but LVHN said it had refused to pay and did not disclose how much was demanded.
